Lass O’Gowrie is a freehold property of 18.14 ha (46 acres) which runs for approximately 1 km along the esplanade of the Ward River, a tributary of the Warrego River, which is part of the Murray Darling Basin.

Heading west on an excellent bitumen highway from Charleville towards Quilpie, the Lass O’Gowrie Road turnoff is 16.84 km from Charleville. To accommodate the school bus, the turnoff from the highway has a large parking area on both sides of the road.

The property is 1.25 km from the main road and is accessed via an all weather municipal gravel road. From the highway, one drives across a grid and travels through the “Permit to Occupy” (PTO) to a high ridge approximately 45 feet above the normal river height. The journey from Charleville town takes 12 to 15 minutes.

The PTO is a parcel of land that is zoned Camping and Fishing Reserve for stock and human access. The Permit is for sustainable grazing and is currently held by the owners of Lass O’Gowrie. It is 140 ha (350 acres) surrounding the freehold block and bordered by the road and the esplanade.
